What is Amrita Bhoomi

THE OBJECTIVES:

Amrita Bhoomi is a Public Charitable Trust with certain objects more fully described below for the benefit of mankind, agriculture, human rights, environment and so forth :
 

Ø  The Trust has the sole objective of building a new paradigm centered on diversity in Biological agriculture, food, industry, medicine and education characteristic of diverse cultures in India, for the benefit of the farmers of Karnataka in particular and the people of India in general, based on the principles of decentralisation and participation: sustaining the social, ecological and economic conditions of life, and at the same time has the objective of focussing the responsibility of all Mankind for the consequences and interrelatedness of its present and future activities of the sustainability of this planet.

Ø  In particular, the Trust commits itself to striving to secure the human right to adequate and safe food, by shifting agriculture from its current high input non-sustainable monoculture systems to sustainable internal organic input diversity based systems.

Ø  The Trust commits itself to the revival and recognition of indigenous people’s knowledge and practices in conserving and strengthening agricultural biodiversity, traditional knowledge systems based on natural herbal medicine relating to humans and livestock.

Ø  The Trust commits itself to secure consumer sovereignty and the right to information about hazardous food and to establish and promote direct links between consumers and farmers for the consumption of locally produced safe and healthy food.

Ø  The Trust commits itself to promote technological diversity appropriate to the different regions of this planet to protect the ecology around the respective peoples.

Ø  And to achieve all these objectives, to establish, manage, and develop educational, training, research and production institution in general and agricultural, industrial, medicinal and consumer institutions in particular.

Ø  And to do all necessary things which are in accordance with the intent and objects of the Trust to improve the overall life and activities in rural India in particular.
